Youth Stream Clean Up

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday September 12

1:00 PM  –  3:00 PM

Preregistration is required for this program designed for youth 13-18 years.

Participants should meet at the map kiosk in front of Rowe Visitor Center.

Give back and have a unique experience on a naturalist-guided stream clean up. We’ll hike out on a trail and back in the stream, collecting trash, checking out stream life, and seeing the Nature Center in a new way. Program fees help fund ongoing stream monitoring efforts. Designed for youth ages 13-18. Youth will be grouped with similarly aged peers based on registration.

Masks are required while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.). Masks are not required outdoors.

What to expect:

A health form is required and must be filled out by a parent/legal guardian in advance of the program. A link to the health form will be sent immediately after registration. This will be sent to the email listed on the registration.

This program will take place outdoors. We will be hiking off trail, on rough ground and loose stream rock. Staff will instruct participants on how to safely walk in the stream. We will need to walk through some shallow pools in the stream. We will divide into 3-4 small groups.

What to bring:

  • Bring closed-toed shoes that firmly attach to your feet (no flipflops or Crocs) that can get wet. Old sneakers recommended.
  • A water bottle and some way to carry it.
  • Gloves recommended.
  • Face mask.

Member child $5; nonmember child $5 (includes daily admission).

Inclement Weather Policy: As this program will be meeting outdoors, it will be run as a “fair weather program.” Extreme weather like severe storms will cancel this program. Nature Center staff will communicate the status of this program via email by 11 am on the morning of the event.
