Winter Drawing with Natural Materials

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday January 4

1:00 PM  –  3:30 PM

Preregistration required.  Most suitable for adults or interested children ages 10 and up with an adult.

Program participants meet in the Rowe Visitor Center's Pine Room at our Rowe Woods location.

Nature is not only a source of inspiration for art, it can also be a source for artmaking materials. Join us for winter sketching “en plein air” and experiment with using natural materials. Warm up around a fire as you learn how to make your own drawing with charcoal from native plants and how to make ink from black walnuts. Beginners welcome and encouraged.

A portion of this program will take place outdoors so participants should dress accordingly. Some paper, pencils and brushes will be available for use, but participants are encouraged to bring their own paper or sketchbook that can handle charcoal and ink, as well as their own drawing pencils and brushes.

About the Leader:

She is interested in ways that art and the environment overlap, and is excited to share the fun of experimenting with natural materials in artmaking.
