Description: Grab your hiking boots and join us for an afternoon of nature exploration! We’ll take a 1-mile hike, look for signs of animal visitors, and complete all requirements for the Bears Adventure: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns Badge.We’ll complete most of the requirements of this badge during the program. 

What to Expect: This is a naturalist-led program that will occur outdoors. This program is rain or shine; please dress for the weather. We’ll hike a short distance over some uneven terrain. Please email ahorne@cincynature.org with questions or concerns.

What to Expect: This program is almost entirely outdoors—rain, snow, or shine! (Indoor options available in the case of severe weather.) Please dress for cold weather and wear boots. Program Description: Join us to learn about woodcocks as we take a brisk walk to the fields at Long Branch Farm & Trails to listen and watch. First you will hear them, then you will see their flight against the darkening sky. Woodcocks are a secretive game bird and the best part of the “mud season.” 

What to Expect: Expect to be here for slightly over an hour to learn about these fascinating birds.  Distance traveled is typically less than 1/4 mile at a slow pace.  There will be periods of quiet standing (or sitting if you bring a chair) while we wait for the action to begin.  

What to Wear: Please dress for the weather as this program will take place entirely outside. It will be muddy; wear old clothes and boots.

What to Bring: Considering bringing an outdoor folding chair to sit on for our watch. No flashlights please.

Program Description: Both amateur and professional photographers usually meet the third Wednesday of the month to learn and share knowledge about a focused theme or topic. Program Description: In early spring, when the weather is just right, salamanders and frogs move to ponds and vernal pools to breed. Discover what to look and listen for, then we'll search for these amphibian creatures!

Note:

• Please arrive promptly to start at 8 pm for the start of our program. Please note our gatehouse will close at 8:15 pm. 
• As this program has an end time of 9:15 pm, this program is not appropriate for children with early bedtimes. 
• Please bring a flashlight. (It is best to have a flashlight for every member of your party.)

Program Description: Join us for Cincinnati’s premier garden tour, presented by Wimberg Landscaping Company, featuring 9 magnificent gardens that incorporate native plants in unique and creative ways.  Locations include North Avondale, Blue Ash, Loveland, and Indian Hill

What to Expect: Guests receive a Garden Tour program booklet to help plan their self-guided tour. The Garden Tour booklet grants you entrance into the gardens between 9 am and 5 pm. Each guest on the tour must show their booklet to gain access to each garden.

Order tickets by May 31, 2024 to receive the tour booklet in the mail! Guests purchasing after this date will have the option to stop by Cincinnati Nature Center entrance gatehouse of the Rowe Woods location (4949 Tealtown Rd., Milford, OH 45150) to pick up their booklet before the tour or pick up their booklet at Garden #1 the day of the tour.

Registration Deposit of $250 is due now.

Enrollment Deposit

The $250.00 deposit is required at time of application.  Your child is not officially enrolled until this deposit is received by CNC.  The deposit will be applied to your total prior to calculating your remaining payments. If your child enrolls and does not attend the Nature School, the $250 deposit is not refunded.

If a student withdraws for any reason other than a medical problem (verification from a licensed physician required) or relocation, parents are personally liable to pay the full tuition for the balance of the school year. 

A Cincinnati Nature Center Membership is required to attend Nature School.

Do I have to attend the program with my scout or troop?

• Cincinnati Nature Center scout programs are not drop-off programs. Scout programs are specifically designed for children to attend with their caregiver or scout leader. One parent or leader may chaperone up to 6 children. Parents who are dropping off children to attend with their troop leader may choose to wait in the Rowe Visitor Center or walk the ground during the program.

Does the Nature Center provide badges, pins etc.?

• The Nature Center does not provide the badges for completing a program. Leaders are welcome to bring badges for their troop to hand out after the program.

What do I do when we arrive?

• Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled program. Please inform the front gate attendant that you are here for a pre-paid scout program. You may park in any open spot in the parking lot. Unless otherwise noted, programs meet outside the Rowe Visitor Center. If you will be late, please call the Nature Center and the front desk naturalist will help you meet up with your program already in progress.

Do I need to provide names of individuals participating in the program?

• No. We do not require names for program participants at the time of registration. To register you need to know the number of scouts, siblings participating and adult chaperones attending the program.

Check your email for registration information regarding this transaction. SAVE A TREE, please retain your order number or save an electronic copy of the email acknowledgement as a receipt. You may be asked for your order number from your transaction to gain entry at the gate/to attend your program. Visitor Services associates can also verify your etickets from the order number or by name.

Recommended Audience: This program is designed for Brownie scouts along with their parent chaperones. 

Description: Nature is full of colors and shapes! We’ll head out on the trail for this new badge to explore beauty hidden in the forest. During the program, we'll complete all of the badge requirements for the Brownie Shapes in Nature badge.

Note: This program takes place outdoors; please dress for the weather with appropriate outdoor clothing and sturdy shoes for hiking. This program is rain or shine. We’ll be hiking over uneven surfaces, with some hills. 

Limited spots are available. Only ticketed individuals will be able to attend the event.  In order to ensure that you receive the necessary number of tickets for your group, please make sure you register all scouts and adults for your program at once.  

Where to Meet: Registered program participants meet inside our auditorium at the Rowe Woods Visitor Center (4949 Tealtown Rd, Milford, OH 45150). 

Cost: $10/child participant (including siblings over 4 who are participating). Adults are $10. Children must attend the program with a parent or adult chaperone. Parent/chaperones may accompany up to six children—a ratio of at least one adult to six children. *All adults must reserve tickets. No member discounts are available for this program.

What will we do during our program?

A program designed for Girl and Boy Scouts and their chaperones. Preregistration online is required. No member discounts for this program. 

Celebrate the Earth the scouting way! In this program, we’ll go on a one-mile hike and explore the Nature Center’s efforts to preserve wildlife and wild places. 

For Girl Scouts, this program meets many of the requirements of:

This hike is best for younger scouts (1st grade-4th grade). 

This program requires preregistration and is designed for Girl Scouts 4th grade and up. No member discounts for this program.

Join us for an afternoon of learning outdoor skills! We will build our own fire and then make a healthy snack over the flames. We will also learn the basics of making a free-standing shelter. This program can meet the Wilderness Survival Fun Patch requirements. 

This program requires preregistration and is designed for adults 21+.

Summertime is back once again, and so, too, is Music Under the Moon at Cincinnati Nature Center. Set against the idyllic backdrop of our Groesbeck Estate, each month we'll feature a different local band. Come for one date or join us for all three. Each show is sure to be high energy and have everyone on their feet! Food, wine, and beer will be available for purchase (IDs will be checked at the door). Complimentary light snacks will be provided. 

Please Note: This event will take place on a covered, outdoor patio, so festivities will take place rain or shine! While this event will go on rain or shine, severe weather will result in a cancellation and full refund. In the event of a cancellation, Cincinnati Nature Center staff will communicate with all registrants by 2 pm the day of the event.

Member adult $20; nonmember adult $30 (includes daily admission).

• Yes. This event will be held outside on the Groesbeck's Tritsch Terrace under a large tent. Because the space is covered, this event will be held rain or shine. Inclement weather such as lightning or high winds will result in a cancellation. Should weather result in a cancellation, all guests will be notified by 2 pm the day of the event, and a full refund will be issued. 

Is this event family friendly?

• No. This event is best suited for adults 21+

Can I bring my pet?

• No. Please leave your furry friends at home for this event. Registered service animals only.

Is parking provided?

• Yes. There is plenty of free parking at Groesbeck Estate.

Will there be food and drink at this event?

• Yes. There will be food available for purchase, and light snacks provided free of charge.

Will there be alcohol available for purchase?

• Yes. Beer and wine will be available for purchase for those ages 21+. Guests are welcome to bring water. No outside food or beverages (other than water), please.

Will credit cards be accepted for food and drink purchases?

• Yes. All major credit cards will be accepted, as well as cash.

Will there be seating at this event?

• Yes. There will be some seating available. There will also be high-top tables for standing and socializing. Priority seating will be available for those with additional needs.
