Evolutionary Ecology of Invasive Species

Preregistration preferred.

Program participants meet in the Rowe Woods Visitor Center Pine Room.

What’s the difference between exotic and invasive? What’s a pest? How do species become invasive? In this workshop, we will discuss the evolution of invasiveness, the leading hypotheses surrounding how species become invasive and how the public’s perception of their landscape may impact how we manage invasive species. This workshop will be presented by Cincinnati Nature Center’s Director of the Center of Conservation & Stewardship, Dr. Cory Christopher, PhD.  His doctoral research studied the interaction and effects of Amur honeysuckle and white-tailed deer on plants in a deciduous forest at Cincinnati Nature Center.

Members $5; nonmembers $14 (includes daily admission).  Please bring bagged lunch.

*Please note that cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event.  No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event.  All programs continue, rain or shine.
