Movement in Nature: Four Elements Yoga at LBFT (Yoga for the Air Element) 8/14/2022

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday August 14

9:30 AM  –  11:00 AM

Preregistration required.  A program geared for adults and interested youth (age 13 and up) with an adult.

The four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) are physical materials and energies that comprise the world around us. Each class will explore one of these elements through different yoga postures and sequences. The goal for these practices is to feel our direct connection to each element within ourselves and in nature, understanding that we are a part of the ecosystem. Classes will vary in difficulty, and most classes will involve a hike to different locations at Long Branch Farm & Trails.

In the air element class, we will focus on breathing exercises, also known as pranayama, and heart opening yoga poses. We will take a brisk hike up one of the hills at Long Branch Farm & Trails to deepen our breathing and get our hearts pumping! Along the way, we will practice fun and light yoga postures, while engaging with our sense of smell by exploring scents of the many plants around us. This practice is great for when we feel stuck or heavy and need to reconnect with the lightness of the air element.

Registered program participants should meet at the Creekside Barn at Long Branch Farm & Trails (6926 Gaynor Rd, Goshen, OH 45122).

About the guide: Megan Kennedy is a certified yoga teacher and has taught yoga in the Cincinnati area for several years. She likes to offer her students an eclectic mix of styles that she has studied. She obtained a master’s degree in Sustainable Development and Climate Change, which has contributed to her other pursuits in backpacking, farming, herbalism, and meditation. Overall, she believes practice should be fun and ever evolving.

What to expect: Four Elements Yoga is energetic and movement oriented, focusing on strengthening postures. Trails and distances will vary between classes, and we may encounter steps and hills. Intensity is moderate but will vary in difficulty depending upon the focus of each class.

Minimum age for children attending with an adult: Children of any age are more than welcome with the understanding that it is an ADULT yoga class, so children under 13 years of age may not be able to do everything or stay interested in the class. Adults will have to decide how much management of their children they are interested in doing.

How to dress: Participants should dress in layered, loose, comfortable, athletic clothing. Hiking shoes or gym shoes are recommended.

What to bring: Guests should bring water if the day is hot. A yoga mat is NOT needed.

Members $9; nonmembers $19 (includes daily admission).
