Maple After Hours 2/12/2021

This event is no longer on sale.

Friday February 12

6:00 PM  –  7:15 PM

Preregistration is required for the adult program designed for adults 21 and over.

Participants should meet at the Outdoor Learning Center at our Rowe Woods location.

Venture into the moonlit sugarbush as we collect pails of glimmering sap and discover the history of maple tapping’s past. We’ll marvel at the flames as they transform sap into syrup through old and new methods and taste our hard-earned sugary reward. Play games to discover who else sneaks sap in our forest before you take home a sweet treat of your own by purchasing a maple beer crowler for two.

Member adult $10; nonmember adult $19 (includes daily admission).

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can come? This program is designed for adults (21 and up) who want to enjoy a maple-themed night, in pairs, individually, or in groups. Any groups larger than ten will be split up into smaller groups for the entirety of the program. Please keep your furry friends at home; no pets are permitted.

What should I wear? We’ll be outside for the entirety of the program with a few warm-up spots by fires. We recommend weather-appropriate clothing that would make you comfortable walking on-trail and off-trail at night and keep you warm. Masks are also required.

Will I be able to purchase maple beer? Every attendee will get a small free sample of HighGrain Brewing Company’s bourbon barrel-aged, maple-infused brown ale during the program. Guests will also have the option to purchase and take home a 32-ounce crowIer for $20 at the program.

  • Due to our limited amount of this special partnership beer, those wishing to purchase a crowler should reserve one through the form sent in the confirmation email for this program.
  • We ask that attendees limit themselves to one crowler per two people attending. In the case that you are attending as an individual or in an odd numbered group, crowlers will also be available on an individual basis as supplies lasts.
  • IDs will be checked and $20 payment for crowler will be taken onsite during the program.

To pay for the beer crowler, should I bring cash or card? We can accommodate both cash and credit cards (Mastercard and Visa). Bringing both payment options may speed up the payment process as we have a limited number of card readers.

Will food be provided? You will be sent home with individually wrapped maple candies to keep the maple fun going after the program.

What will we get to do in this program? Attendees will visit a variety of stations with their assigned small group where they will get to venture into the forest to collect maple sap, visit our sweet-smelling sugarhouse where sap becomes syrup, taste the sweet product of our trees, listen to stories of old, view antique maple tools, and play a fun game to guess which animals sip sap too.

What COVID precautions are in place? The following COVID-19 safety precautions will take place:

  • This entire program will take place outdoors.
  • Guests will remain in groups of 10 or below.
  • All guests and staff will be required to wear masks for the entirety of the program, with the exception for mask breaks and syrup or beer sampling, all of which will take place spaced out at least ten feet apart from one another outdoors.
  • Shared tools are limited and sanitized between uses.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available at several locations throughout the program.

Do I need to bring a flashlight? Lanterns and fires will help illuminate the darker spots throughout the evening so that flashlights are not necessary. Of course, you may bring one if you would prefer the extra light source.

What should I wear/bring:? This is an outdoor hike; please dress for the weather. Please bring your ID and also bring your own mask.*
