Preregistration is required by Monday, April 8 at noon. This program is designed for adults.

Join us as we team with Clermont Soil & Water Conservation District for a Pond Clinic at our Rowe Woods location. Participants should meet in the Auditorium of Rowe Woods Visitor Center. 

Guest Speaker: Eugene Braig, Program Director of Ohio State University Extension Aquatic Ecosystems Program, will deliver the opening presentation:  “The Aging Process and Other Inconveniences: Keeping Ponds Healthy for the Long Run”, Managing a healthy fishery by understanding nutrients, aeration, and aquatic vegetation over the long run.

Guests are invited to enjoy up to two breakout sessions:

Breakout Session 1A: Ponds 101 Jake Hahn with Clermont SWCD brings 10 years of pond assistance tips and guidance. For those who are new with management or those that are thinking of building.

or

Breakout Session 1B: Fish Stocking with Jones Fish Hatchery. What fish will be most successful in your pond and what fish should you stock that you don’t know about.

 

Breakout Session 2A: Pond Weed Control with Jones Fish Hatchery. Learn to ID and manage plants in your pond from those who deal with it every day.

or

Breakout Session 2B: The Benefits of Riparian Buffers, along with certain plants that are suitable for pond habitat and attracting wildlife with Olivia Espinoza of the Cincinnati Nature Center.

Please come early for our pond walk with experts, if you desire. Walk will be from 4 pm-5 pm and is weather dependent. Please meet at the Rowe Woods Visitor Center lobby for our pond walk. On our walk, we will discuss what we find, including plant life, pond problems and maybe look at some macro invertebrates. This will be an easy hike, but may include uneven terrain.

Member $0; nonmembers $0. This program is free to registered participants.
