Seasonal Foraging Walkabout at Long Branch Farm & Trails 3/29/2023

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday March 29

6:00 PM  –  7:30 PM

Preregistration is required for this program designed for adults.

We’ll follow the seasons during this general foraging hike. Every outing will be a unique but will be a blend of:

  • Foraged culinary (and sometimes foraged crafting) experimentation.
  • Tasting or food samples will be part of each outing.
  • Gathering and learning together with a community of people interested in foraging
  • Identification tips and techniques.
  • Insider updates into the foraging and agroforestry happenings at Long Branch Farm & Trails.
  • Botany and ecology through naturalist eyes.
  • Respectful, ethical, and sustainable harvesting.
  • The “what, when, where, and how to prepare” of edible wild plants.
  • Exploratory scouting, sometimes off trail, for future harvests.
  • Opportunities to give back to the land through short learn-by-doing projects such as harvesting for future education programs or contributions to our native edible species polyculture farming efforts.

For whom is this outing intended?

  • Seasonal Foraging Walkabouts are open to all levels
  • Beginners to foraging are welcome!
  • Veteran foragers will also find value in this experience.

What to expect:

  • Dress for weather conditions – so long as it’s safe to be on the trail, we’ll be heading out in all weather conditions. We may cover 1-2 miles or more during each outing, with potential off trail walking, but will adjust the hike based on ability of program attendees.

Will there be tasting/food samples?

  • Most certainly.

Registered program participants should meet at the white Creekside Barn at Long Branch Farm & Trails (6926 Gaynor Road, Goshen, OH 45122).

Member adult $15; nonmember adult $25 (includes daily admission).
