Give back and have a unique experience by helping us increase the diversity of native plants in our pollinator garden. Learn how to properly plant new plants in our garden to increase the variety of food sources for wildlife.
What to expect: This program will take place entirely outdoors in an open area. Participants will be using a variety of garden tools to plant new plants in the pollinator garden and other tasks such as pruning and mulching. Physical work involved includes standing, kneeling, lifting, bending, and reaching. Participants will learn how to correctly plant new plants which create habitat for wildlife.
Minimum age for children attending with an adult: This is a family-friendly class, most appropriate for adults and children 5 years old and above with a caregiver.
How to dress: Dress for heat and sun.
What to bring: Sunscreen, water, and bug spray. We will supply all necessary garden tools; you are welcome to bring your own garden gloves and large/small shovels.
Where to park: Take a right before the PlayScape parking lot and park along Groesbeck Drive with Abner Hollow Cabin in sight. (Abner Hollow Cabin is the cabin near our Nature PlayScape). Cross the street and head over a little bridge on the walking trail and continue the path. You will see the garden on the left before Lotus Pond. Feel free to ask questions about this location from our helpful gatehouse staff before you park.
Program participants should meet at the Pollinator Garden at our Rowe Woods location.
