Pawpaw Hunting at Long Branch Farm & Trails 9/9/2020

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday September 9

6:00 PM  –  7:30 PM

Preregistration required for all participants. As we will be venturing off trail and crossing a creek, this program is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Program participants should meet at the white Creekside Barn at Long Branch Farm & Trails, 6926 Gaynor Road, Goshen, OH 45122. (Get Directions)  Members should bring their membership card for gate access. Nonmembers please follow directions at the gate.

Pawpaw trees have been hiding right here in Ohio’s backyard for thousands of years, but it wasn’t until 2009 that the pawpaw was named Ohio’s native state fruit. As we venture “way down yonder” to treasure hunt for ripe pawpaw fruits, we’ll explore the history, science and lore of the “Ohio Banana.”

What to wear: As we’ll be crossing a creek and searching for pawpaw off trail, hiking shoes/boots and long pants are strongly advised. You may also choose closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting wet or dirty. Please also bring your own masks. Whether indoors or outdoors, masks are required for all adults and children in Kindergarten through 12th grade at all Cincinnati Nature Center programs. Masks are to be worn outside when one cannot consistently be spaced 6 feet apart. Masks are also required to be worn while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.).

Members $6; nonmembers $11 (includes admission).

*Please note that cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event. All programs continue, rain or shine.
