Pawpaw Hunting at Long Branch Farm & Trails 9/22/2021

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday September 22

6:00 PM  –  7:30 PM

Preregistration required for all participants. As we will be venturing off trail and crossing a creek, this program is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Program participants should meet at the white Creekside Barn at our Long Branch Farm & Trails location (6926 Gaynor Rd, Goshen, OH 45122).

Pawpaw trees have been hiding right here in Ohio’s backyard for thousands of years, but it wasn’t until 2009 that the pawpaw was named Ohio’s native state fruit. As we venture “way down yonder” to treasure hunt for ripe pawpaw fruits, we’ll explore the history, science, and lore of the “Ohio Banana.”

Weather Update: The hike is still on! Dress for the weather for tonight’s pawpaw hunting hike. We’ll be headed to new patch that does not require crossing a creek, and we’ll send you home with a pawpaw fruit (from Jason’s orchard) at the end of the program.

What to wear/bring: Hiking shoes/boots and long pants are strongly advised. You may also choose closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting wet or dirty. Please also bring your own masks.

Masks are required for all vaccinated and unvaccinated people kindergarten and up while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.). Masks are not required outdoors.

Members $6; nonmembers $11 (includes admission).

As of August 23, 2021, masks are required in all our buildings for all vaccinated and unvaccinated people (all individuals kindergarten and up). Masks are not required outdoors or under pavilions and tents.
