Native Plants – Propagation and Polyculture

This event is no longer on sale.

Friday June 17

10:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

Preregistration is required for this program designed for Midwest Sustainability Institute conference attendees.

Cincinnati Nature Center’s Long Branch Farm & Trails, once an operating educational farm, has been reimagined to speak to the our mission of inspiring conservation as well as its “Plant Native” initiative. On this field trip, you’ll tour our native plant propagation facility where native plants, shrubs, and trees are grown for habitat restoration projects on our lands, as well as to be sold to the general public. Part two of this tour centers on the native perennial polyculture plots whose primary crop is visitor engagement, framed as a celebration of hyper-local food through harvesting, cooking, education, and events.

This tour begins at the Native Plant Nursery at 6926 Gaynor Road, Goshen, OH, 45122 (plan to use your vehicle to drive to the polyculture plot a short distance away from the nursery). Specific instruction will be emailed to the email address you provided to register for this tour by Thursday, June 16, 8 pm. Please dress to be outside rain or shine—sturdy shoes recommended. We will be walking under 0.75 mile.

This free tour is exclusively for Midwest Sustainability Institute conference attendees.
