Movement in Nature: Four Elements Yoga at Rowe Woods (Yoga for the Earth Element) 7/10/2022

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday July 10

9:30 AM  –  11:00 AM

Preregistration required.  A program geared for adults and interested youth (age 13 and up) with an adult.

The four elements (earth, air, fire, and water) are physical materials and energies that comprise the world around us. Each class will explore one of these elements through different yoga postures and sequences. The goal for these practices is to feel our direct connection to each element within ourselves and in nature, understanding that we are a part of the ecosystem. Classes will vary in difficulty, and most classes will involve a hike to different locations on our grounds.

In this class, we will connect to the earth through our feet and hands. We will work on grounding and balancing poses, seeking to build strength and stability by rooting our feet into the earth like a tree. To establish this grounding effect, we'll practice near grandfather trees where we can see the large roots connecting to the earth. There will also be opportunities to build strength by lifting rocks, logs and other parts of the earth. This practice is very useful when we're feeling anxious or unbalanced and need to reconnect to the grounding forces of the earth.

Registered program participants should meet outside of the front doors of our Visitor Center at our Rowe Woods location.
