Ink and Drink: Painting with Fall’s Colors 10/2/2020 6:30 pm

This event is no longer on sale.

Friday October 2

6:30 PM  –  8:00 PM

This program is SOLD OUT. To be placed on a waitlist for this program, please contact registrar@cincynature.org.

Preregistration required. This program is designed for adults.

Program participants should meet on the back deck of the Center for Conservation at our Rowe Woods location.

Stroll through the autumnal forest as we gather rich, inky berries, and vibrant flowers to harness their pigmented magic. As we crush and boil our way from nature to art supplies, we’ll discover the history of the land as told through the colors of plants. Together we’ll create landscape-fueled shades of ink to decorate and fill our own greeting cards with plant-inspired beauty. Each registered participant will get one blank greeting card with an envelope to paint with our hand-made inks. Additional cards are available for purchase with cash for $2 each, as well as glasses of wine for $6 each.

Important note: As this program will be meeting outdoors to ensure social distancing, it will be run as a “fair weather program.” Extreme weather like severe storms will cancel this program and a full refund will be offered. Nature Center staff will communicate the status of this program via email by 8:00 am on the morning of the event. Also, please plan to arrive on time for the 6:30 pm session. Our gatehouse will only be staffed until 7:00 pm.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What should I wear?

We’ll be taking a short foraging walk and painting with inks together; wear comfortable shoes and a shirt in which you’re happy doing a bit of art. Please bring a mask to wear. Whether indoors or outdoors, masks are required at all Cincinnati Nature Center programs. Masks are to be worn outside when one cannot consistently be spaced 6 feet apart. Masks are also required to be worn while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.).

Where are we meeting? Where should I park?

Please park in the Center of Conservation parking lot. We’ll meet you at the front of Groesbeck Estate. Gatehouse staff can give you directions on how to get to the Center for Conservation parking lot if needed.

Are there food and drinks available?

You are welcome to bring your own snacks to the event and glasses of wine will be available for purchase with cash for $6 per glass.

What should I bring?

No materials are needed, we’ll provide everything you need to participate in the program.

How long/far is the hike? Do I have to go on the hike?

The short hike will span roughly half a mile on-trail and in grass. We’ll walk at a leisurely pace and pause at different plants along the way. Anyone wishing to stay behind for the hike portion is welcome to remain at the Groesbeck Lodge deck to aid in the making of inks.

What social distancing measures will be in place?

The entire program will take place outside and all participants and staff members are required to wear masks. While we are making art, we will sit down at tables and guests will sit only with those individuals they came with to the program. Tables will be spaced more than 6 feet apart for those wishing to pull their mask down to drink wine. Many of the tools we will use will not be shared, and any shared tools will be sanitized between uses.

Members $10; nonmembers $19 (includes daily admission).

*Please note that cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event.
