Homeschool Day - What's for Lunch 10/2/2018

This event is no longer on sale.

Tuesday October 2

10:00 AM  –  1:00 PM

Preregistration is required for all students/children participating.  Adult chaperones/parents need not register.  However, all students must have adult supervision for this program. Geared for grades 1-5.

Program participants should meet in the Rowe Woods Visitor Center Auditorium at our Rowe Woods location.

With a naturalist, students search for living examples of producers, consumers and decomposers in a variety of habitats while discussing food chains, population dynamics, adaptation and change. Skulls, teeth, living herbivores, carnivores and omnivores are examined. Students learn about nature’s nutrient recycling and investigate the forest for evidence of decomposition. Changing factors in an ecosystem are considered, including invasive species, overpopulation and disease.

As this runs over lunch, from 10 am until 1 pm, we suggest you bring trail snacks for your children. Once the program wraps up at 1 pm, you’re invited to head over to the picnic area adjacent to the main parking lot to enjoy your packed lunch.

Members $7 per child; nonmembers $11 per child (includes daily admission).

*Please note that cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event.
