Program Description: Reclaim your attention and begin to uncover your natural awareness. Spending time in nature and mindfulness practice have similar and wonderful benefits. Stress levels go down, and calm and concentration go up—just to name a few. This class offers the opportunity to experience the powerful combination of the two. Join us to learn a simple mindfulness technique that will help you enjoy any moment more fully. This experience is collaboratively offered by Hospice of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Nature Center and is open to adults who are grieving. This is available on a first come, first served basis at no cost through a generous contribution by the Goldstein Family Grief Center.

Program Guide: Leslie Hanna is a certified mindfulness meditation trainer and coach from Unified Mindfulness. She has practiced yoga and meditation for over 20 years.

What to expect: Mindfulness training elevates our ability to focus so that we are able to “be here now” and aware of the present moment. We are likely to be sitting or standing for periods of time as well as walking. The walk will take place entirely outdoors on trail and will be approximately 1/2 mile (no more than 1 mile). The guide will adjust the walk based on ability. Beginners and experienced meditators alike are welcome. A representative from Goldstein Family Grief Center will be present for each program.

How to dress: We’ll be seated or out on the trails and moving slowly. Please dress in layers to ensure proper warmth and comfort. This program runs rain or shine.

What to bring:Consider bringing your own lightweight camp chair or a sit-upon (jacket, towel, etc.)

Note: Paying attention to your grief is the first step in healing. During these programs, you’ll learn about the healing power of nature as it pertains to grief and how to carry your experience in nature into your grief journey at home. These experiences are collaboratively offered by Hospice of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Nature Center and are open to adults who are grieving. They are available on a first come, first served basis at no cost through a generous contribution by the Goldstein Family Grief Center.
