This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday October 22

2:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

Registration Requirements: Preregistration required.

Recommended Audience: This program is designed for adults only with limited spots available.

Program Description: Forest bathing is a practice of immersing yourself in the tranquility of nature to relieve stress. This guided stroll is an invitation to slow down and awaken the senses, allowing you to quietly take in nature’s gifts. Preregistration required. This experience is collaboratively offered by Hospice of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Nature Center and is open to adults who are grieving. This is available on a first come, first serve basis at no cost through a generous contribution by the Goldstein Family Grief Center. Preregistration required. Member adult free; nonmember adult free.

Program Guides: Ellen Foley is a Forest Therapy Guide certified with The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. Ellen’s experiences finding solace in nature inspire her to guide others in mindfully walking through and connecting with the natural world. Dave Thaeler is a retired teacher. He likes how going on a forest bathing walk in a group has a way of deepening the experience for the individual.

What to expect: This walk will take place entirely outdoors on mostly flat trails; no steps or creek crossings involved. The guides will adjust the walk based on ability. Forest bathing experiences follow a standard sequence that includes quiet, slow, attentive walking, guided sensory experiences, individual mindful time, opportunities for group sharing, and a closing tea ceremony using foraged ingredients. We’ll be standing or sitting on the ground during the periods of sharing. A limited number of sit-pads are available. Consider bringing your own lightweight camp chair or a sit-upon (jacket, towel, etc.). A representative from Goldstein Family Grief Center will be present for each program.

How to dress: We’ll be out on the trails and moving slowly. Please dress in layers to ensure proper warmth and comfort. This program runs rain or shine.

What to bring: Consider bringing your own lightweight camp chair or a sit-upon (jacket, towel, etc.).

Note: Paying attention to your grief is the first step in healing. During these programs, you’ll learn about the healing power of nature as it pertains to grief and how to carry your experience in nature into your grief journey at home. These experiences are collaboratively offered by Hospice of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Nature Center and are open to adults who are grieving. They are available on a first come, first served basis at no cost through a generous contribution by the Goldstein Family Grief Center.
