Garden Design: Using Native Plants to Create a Visually Appealing Deer-Resistant Garden

This event is no longer on sale.

Saturday May 25

2:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

Preregistration required.  A program geared toward adults.

Registered program participants should meet in the auditorium at our Rowe Woods Visitor Center.

Get advice on your native plant garden plan from a landscape designer who’s also an expert in deer resistance. Using photos and sketches of your garden, we’ll look at ways to create a deer-resistant garden with native plants that is also stylish and well designed. Explore native plants in the grounds and look at incorporating timeless design techniques to refine your native garden bed with guidance and critiques from the teacher. Ask questions about plant performance and plant choices. Leave with a clear direction on how to make improvements for your landscape bed.

About the instructor: Michelle Andersen is a designer and coach whose focus is on connecting her clients with either their outdoor spaces or their inner world. Michelle believes that our living spaces are a reflection of who we are and that by connecting with where we live with intention, we can enhance our lives.

With Michelle’s expertise in architecture, landscape design and horticulture, her company Flourish Design creates outdoor living spaces that are beautiful, healthy, and stylish reflections of the people who inhabit them. Her venture Deerproofing Experts helps them learn how to create these beautiful spaces on their own.

As an award-winning residential landscape designer with over 200 deerproof  landscapes installed in the Tri-State, Michelle gained her training as a Cincinnati Park Board horticulturist, landscaper, and graduate of the Architecture program at DAAP. She has also co-oped overseas to learn how to build with bamboo and straw bale. Michelle also has her permaculture certificate.
