Family Field Trip: Life Hiding Underground

This event is no longer on sale.

Friday November 13

9:30 AM  –  11:30 AM

Preregistration is required for all students/children participating. Adult chaperones/parents must register and should attend with their child. Suitable for 2nd-6th grade equivalent, but older and younger siblings may attend if they are registered and paid (under 3 years free, but should still register as they contribute to the maximum number of group members). This program is designed for homeschoolers/virtual learners.

Students participants should meet at the PlayScape Pavilion at our Rowe Woods location with a caregiver/designated adult.

With a naturalist, students will hit the trails look for signs that animals are alive beneath their feet. We’ll look under leaf litter and into holes to find evidence of animals who survive the cold by going deep. We’ll use soil augers to investigate different types of soil and dig into compost to see what lurks inside.

What to wear/bring: Please dress for the weather as this program will take place outside. Bring a water bottle and a mask.

Members $7 per child; nonmembers $11 per child (includes daily admission).

Designated overseer: If a parent/caregiver is unable to attend an event, the child may attend a program with an adult designated to oversee the experience of the child (for example: grandparent, another homeschool parent, etc.). We request that one adult oversee no more than six children.

By registering below, you agree to Cincinnati Nature Center policies listed below:

Mask Policy: Please bring your own mask. Whether indoors or outdoors, masks are required for all adults and children in Kindergarten through 12th grade at all Cincinnati Nature Center programs.  Masks are to be worn outside when one cannot consistently be spaced 6 feet apart. Masks are also required to be worn while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.).

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the first scheduled program date. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the first scheduled program date.
