Fall Birding Field Trip: Fernald Preserve

This event is no longer on sale.

Sunday September 25

9:00 AM  –  12:00 PM

Preregistration required. This offsite program is designed for adults and interested teens (13 and up).

Join us in late September for an intermediate level birding trip to the Fernald Preserve, northwest of Cincinnati. In addition to resident birds, our trip will focus on the challenges of identifying fall migrants across a variety of bird groups. Late September is an ideal time to see thrushes, warblers, and vireos migrating south for winter. Early waterfall migrants should be appearing. In addition, Fernald has considerable open habitat which can provide excellent views of sparrows and raptors.

Fernald Preserve is one of the most popular birding locations in the greater Cincinnati area. It is located northwest of the city just outside the I-275 beltway (40 miles from Cincinnati Nature Center's Rowe Woods location).

We will be walking at a leisurely pace and will stand most of the time. There is some uneven terrain and elevation change. Participants should dress in layers and bring binoculars. There is access to basic restrooms on-site. This program takes place rain or shine unless the weather is very severe.

Registered participants will meet at Fernauld Preserve (7400 Willey Road, Harrison, Ohio 45303). A confirmation email will be sent immediately after registration with the specific meeting location and other important details.

Member adult $15; nonmember adult $20. Only members get discount on this program for adults.
