Elderberry Syrup Making (Online)

Preregistration is required for this online program designed for adults.

This will be a live, virtual class.  This class will take place with Zoom meeting platform. Your link to attend the meeting will be sent in a follow up email which will be sent immediately after registration. You do not need the Zoom application to participate. If you do not receive the Zoom information by email by March 23, please contact our front desk staff at (513) 831-1711 before 4 pm.

Give yourself an end of winter health boost and learn something new as you virtually hang out with us in your kitchen. While your elderberry syrup simmers, we’ll answer your questions about elder, explore elder’s folklore, natural history, botany, and long history with humans through light-hearted trivia.

Ashley O’Hara from Wet Wood Farm will pop in to share information about her elder farm and how she is incorporating harvested elderberries and elderflower to everyday recipes, drinks, and body products.

This is an online program. Registration includes all the dry ingredients and instructions you’ll need to make your own 8-ounce sample of cold-fighting elderberry syrup. You'll provide the ginger and honey to make the recipe complete. You will also need a small sauce pan for simmering, a non-metallic spoon, and an implement for straining (wire mesh strainer, cheesecloth, etc.). Details on how you pick up your dry ingredient pack at Cincinnati Nature Center will be provided in your confirmation email after registration.

Members $12; nonmembers $12.

*Please note that cancellations must be made at least two weeks in advance of the event. No refunds or transfers of fees will occur if the request is made less than two weeks prior to the event. All programs continue, rain or shine.     

Cincinnati Nature Center will run advertised programs and events ​in accordance with current guidelines outlined by the CDC and local health agencies. The status or format of programs may change based on COVID-19 best practices and conditions at the time of the program. In the event that Cincinnati Nature Center cancels a program, full refunds will be issued.
