CANCELED: Buds, Buds, & Suds

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday October 15

6:30 PM  –  9:00 PM

We are sorry. This program has been CANCELED.

Preregistration required for all participants. This program is offered to adults twenty-one and over. Tickets are limited, so register early as this program is expected to sell out quickly.

Registrants will meet at the Center for Conservation (former Groesbeck Estate).  This unique experience will take place indoors and also outdoors in natural areas surrounding our beautiful estate, please dress to enjoy both.

Bring your buds and discover the evolutionary ecology of the humble seed. Why are they so hard? Why don’t mine ever grow? Are they alive? After the introduction, participants will learn how to propagate native plants in their own yards. We will tour some of the Nature Center’s native prairies and learn how to properly collect, store, and prepare seeds for planting. Each participant will take home a selection of native seeds for practicing the techniques at home. Then head back to the Groesbeck for some suds and a Q & A with the course leaders, Cory Christopher, Director of Conservation, and Jake Sberna, Manager of the Native Plant Propagation Program.

What to bring? Please bring your own mask and a valid ID.

What social distancing measures will be in place? All participants and staff members are required to wear masks at this program. Masks are to be worn outside when one cannot consistently be spaced 6 feet apart. Masks are also required to be worn while inside all facilities (for example, Rowe Visitor Center, restroom, etc.). Participants will be seated and spaced more than 6 feet apart for those wishing to pull their mask down to drink.
