Preregistration is required for all students/children participating. Adult chaperones/parents need not register. However, all students must have adult supervision for this program.
Program participants should meet in the on Outdoor Learning Center at Rowe Woods on March 14 and 28. On April 11, participants should meet at Long Branch Farm & Trails at our white Creekside Barn.
Two years after a plane crash stranded him in the woods, Brian has learned to listen and learn from the wilderness he now calls home. Join us for a 3-part series as we discuss the final novel in Gary Paulsen’s iconic Hatchet series. Through hands-on activities we will learn about tracking (session 1), fire-making (session 2), and canoeing (session 3). Assigned readings will be given for each meeting. Bring your own snack and book to each session; the first 2 sessions will be held at Rowe Woods, the last will be at Long Branch Farm. Suitable for children in the 4-7 grade levels.
For session 1 (March 14), read chapters 1-4 – Meet in Rowe Woods Outdoor Learning Center
For session 2 (March 28), read chapters 5-8 -- Meet in Rowe Woods Outdoor Learning Center
For session 3 (April 11), read chapters 9-11 – Meet at the white Creekside Barn at Long Branch Farm and Trails
Members $18 per student for the 3-session series; nonmembers $30 per student for the 3-session series (includes daily admission).
