CANCELED: Birds on the Brain Overnight Teacher Training

This event is no longer on sale.

Wednesday June 19

9:00 AM  –  11:59 PM

Preregistration required.  This program is an overnight and will run from Wednesday, June 19 at 9 am to Thursday, June 20 at 3 pm.

Program participants meet at Krippendorf Lodge at our Rowe Woods location (4949 Tealtown Rd., Milford, OH 45150).

This bird-focused educator workshop for public and private school teachers of grades K-6 will utilize resources from Cornell Lab of Ornithology, as well as other bird-loving organizations.

Birds are readily observable wildlife for most schools, and teaching students to notice and appreciate their beauty and complexity can improve their interest in learning. Through the use of sensory activities, games, art, and direct observation, we will focus on how birds can be used to study a variety of topics in your schoolyard. We’ll engage in discussion, explore citizen science opportunities for students, and brainstorm methods for successful implementation in your schoolyard. We’ll also touch on how schoolyards can provide habitat to support birds and other parts of their food web.

Graduate credit through Ashland University available. Teachers will sleep in rustic cabins on Cincinnati Nature Center’s property. Contact Melissa Sabo with questions at msabo@cincynature.org.

Cost: $65/teacher -OR- $60/teacher if registering with another teacher from your school (Discount will appear if it is the same transaction
