About the instructor: While obtaining a degree at the Art Institute of Cincinnati, Kathy Conroy learned the technique of scratchboard. It has become her favorite medium and one of her goals is to become a Master in this technique. She spends many hours photographing horses, birds, wildlife, trees, flowers and anything related to nature to use as guides in my work. Her works are also available in a wide variety of replicated formats, such as prints on canvas, note cards, standard prints, etc.

Kathy exhibited and demonstrated scratchboard technique at the December Walk in the Woods Artists' Reception. She has received numerous awards from shows and exhibits ranging from second place to Best of Show. She shows regularly at the Kentucky Crafted - The Market in Lexington or Louisville, the Louisville Artisans Guild, and participates in many animal art exhibits and many juried exhibitions with the International Society of Scratchboard Artists. She was the Exhibition Director for the ISSA exhibit, with 70 scratchboard pieces from 7 Countries and 15 US States.  She has juried works exhibited at the Kentucky Artisan Center in Berea, KY, Gallery 104 in La Grange, KY, and Wild Birds Unlimited in Lexington. She is a juried member of the Kentucky Arts Council - Kentucky Crafted, a Signature member with the International Society of Scratchboard Artists (ISSA), and a juried member of the Louisville Artisans Guild.
